I made this pattern a really long time ago – once again, my blackwork patterns are very sketchy and not for the faint-hearted. You need to extrapolate on the pattern as there is only a few stitches for each section, but he’s adorable and blue and amazing. If you double the pattern (each square is actually a 2×2 space) then it’s twice the size it says, but there are no quarter stitches – everything is across a full square.
One trick I learned with this one is use three strands of black for the outline, and two strands of colour. It makes the outline stand out and the colour retract slightly in a way that is very pleasing to my aesthetic.
